STUDENTS and staff have continued their fight against cuts to college courses with a sit-down protest.
The action comes after Greenwich Community College announced it was closing its Meridian Music Centre at East Greenwich Library and ending its A-Level and GCSE foreign language courses at the end of this term.
The college says the action is necessary after its government funding was slashed by £750,000.
People held a ‘picnic protest’ outside the music centre on May 26, claiming the music centre should be kept open as it is in profit and has an 80 per cent pass rate.
Protestors handed out flyers and got 200 signatures for their petition to keep the music centre open.
They intend to continue their action with another protest this on June 3.
