WHEN it comes to pulling on a rope, Territorial Army soldiers from Bexley take some beating.
The TA Signallers, from 71 Signal Regiment, based in Watling Street, Bexleyheath, heaved their way to winning the tug-of-war contest which is part of the annual competition between London TA units.
The competition involved 10 TA units from across London and was held at the TA training centre in Pirbright, Surrey.
71 Signal Regiment, which also has centres in north London and the City, entered six teams in the competition and Bexleyheath’s tug-of-war win helped the regiment into the runners-up position overall.
Other contests included football, squash, orienteering, volleyball, military skills and the “falling plate” race and rifle shoot.
Winners of the challenge trophy were Croydon’s 151 Transport Regiment.
