FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a house in Beckenham following reports of an explosion.
Police and forensic teams were also called to Gainsborough Close at 2.55pm, after a house and a Nissan Micra were both on fire.
Nick Kossov, who lives in nearby Silverwood Close, said it sounded like a bomb had gone off.
The 43-year-old said: “There was this massive bang and I heard metal coming down.
“The windows of the flat shook.
“All of a sudden there was enough smoke to suggest a house had caught fire.
“There were significant amounts of it coming over the top of the houses.
“Smoke was everywhere."
Mr Kossov, an opera singer, added: “It was the same smell in the air that you get when you discharge a shotgun.
“Fire brigade dogs were out and they're used to sniffing out explosives.”
Emergency services are still dealing with the incident.
It is not known if anyone has been hurt.
