A COMMISSION set up by London Mayor Boris Johnson to look at outer London boroughs such as Bexley and Bromley, says one of their greatest assets is their quality of life.

The 20 boroughs classed as outer London provide two fifths of the capital’s jobs, but jobs are growing at just over half the rate of inner London.

It identified four sectors for growth in the outer London economy, office-based work (including the public sector), knowledge-based industries, retail, and leisure tourism and culture.

It ruled out the necessity to expand into the green belt to help with economic growth, but has suggested setting up a on-going outer London forum.
