A RESTAURANT has re-opened after it was forced to close following a mouse and cockroach infestation.
Greenwich Council took action against San Miguel Tapas Bar and Restaurant after an environmental officer’s unannounced visit found evidence of mice and cockroaches in the basement, kitchen and food preparation area.
There were also large holes in the walls which allowed the pests to access the restaurant.
An emergency prohibition order was issued at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court on May 10.
Owner Teuhide Abdurahman was ordered to close the restaurant in Greenwich Church Street until the pest infestations were controlled.
She was also ordered to pay the council’s costs of £600.
The restaurant was allowed to re-open on May 13 after an intensive clean-up and pest control treatments.
