POLICE in north Kent are appealing for information after a 15-year-old girl was accosted by a man at a recreation ground in Gravesend.
At around 8.30am yesterday (May 25) the girl was walking across The Warren, Valley Drive, when a man rode past her on a bicycle and disappeared around the corner.
As she rounded the corner herself the man's bike was on the floor and he asked her the time. As she went to answer, he lunged for her.
He is alleged to have tried to pull her into bushes, but after a struggle the girl got away.
The man is white, aged 20 to 27, with short dark hair and big brown eyes.
He was clean-shaven, slim and was wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
The man was riding a dark coloured mountain bike with thin tyres and big wheels. He came from the direction of shops in Livingstone Road.
Ten schools in the area have been called by neighbourhood officers to let them know what happened and to ask them to warn pupils to be extra vigilant.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the man to call them on 01622 690690, quoting reference 25-290, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
