A 27-YEAR-OLD man caught with child pornography and videos of animals having sex with women has been spared jail.
Daniel Milward, from Gravesend, was given a three-year supervision order and ordered to attend a sex offenders' rehabilitation programme when he was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court today.
Milward, of Wallace Park, had pleaded guilty to five counts of making indecent images of children and four counts of possessing extreme pornographic images.
The court heard the extreme pornography charges related to videos in which women had sex with dogs and horses, while the indecent images charges related to photos and a video of children.
Milward was arrested on March 10 last year after he ran away from police officers close to his home, making them suspicious he had something to hide, the court heard.
The officers searched his home and found the extreme pornography and indecent images on his computer.
This included a photo of a girl aged three or four being sexually abused.
Stephen Nelson, mitigating, told the court Milward had suffered a troubled upbringing and had been raped and subjected to pornographic images as a child.
He said Milward had “more than demonstrated his responsibility and his remorse” for his offences and was trying to turn his life around by attending a Christian church.
Sentencing Milward, Judge Martin Joy said he had taken into account a psychological assessment of the defendant.
The assessment said Milward would benefit more from a rehabilitation programme than prison.
Milward was also given a sexual offences prevention order banning him from being around unaccompanied children under the age of 16.
