FIREFIGHTERS were called to a vintage fire engine pull around a town centre raising more than £1,500 for charity.
Crews from Bromley’s blue watch pulled the 14-tonne 1959 Dennis model two miles through Bromley town centre starting at the Beech Tree Pub in Farwig Road and finishing in Market Square.
They collected cash from passersby which will go to the Forces Childrens Trust, a charity which helps dependent children who have lost a parent while serving with the Armed Forces.
Specialist menswear company Gordon Bennett donated £200 and dressed the firefighters in polo shirts especially designed for the event.
Firefighter Paul Mudge said: “We had a really good response from the public. Everyone was very enthusiastic.”
