OUR Lady of the Rosary Primary School in Blackfen achieved Bexley’s highest ever finish at the east London primary schools high five netball tournament.
The team was chosen to represent the Bexley (Woodside) school sports partnership at the championships because of their successes and commitment to local games and tournaments.
High five netball is an adaption of the adult game and has been developed to ensure all pupils get to compete in all positions and play a pivotal role in the team.
The mixed team of Our Lady pupils competed throughout the day and never let their standard of play drop, winning six of their seven games to finish second overall, only one point behind the winners.
This was the highest finish ever for a Bexley team in the regional competition and they will represent the borough in the London Mini Youth Games at Crystal Palace on July 1.
Bexley School Sports Partnership’s Jody Specht said: “The pupils demonstrated sportsmanship and dedication to achieve this fantastic result and it is a just reward not only for their efforts, but also those of teacher and coach Miss Quinn.
“Primary school sport in Bexley is constantly improving and we are beginning to see more and more of our schools and pupils succeed at regional level and beyond.”
