ST Mary’s Primary School in Beckenham and Edgebury Primary School in Chislehurst fielded three teams in the inaugural Kent pop lacrosse championship at Sevenoaks on Saturday.
And the Bromley schools dominated the event by filling the first, second and third places.
Pop lacrosse is a junior version of the sport played with plastic sticks and soft balls.
It is fast and furious, an invasive game with a premium on movement and stick skills of catching, cradling and passing to colleagues.
Teams are five-a-side with a squad of eight and there must be at least two boys and two girls on the pitch at any one time.
The tournament was played on a round-robin basis with each team meeting before a third v fourth place game saw St Mary’s B see overcome Lady Boswells A 6-2.
In the final, St Mary’s A played Edgebury in a very close, exciting match which saw St Mary’s win 8-6. Both teams will now go forward to represent Kent in the national pop championships next month.
