WITH the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings looming and VE Day’s 65th anniversary last month, wartime nostalgia is very much in vogue.
Hoping to revive those 1940s memories is Bexley Heritage Trust at its Forties Festival at Hall Place in Bourne Road, Bexley, on bank holiday Monday.
The event, from 11am to 5pm will include a display of military vehicles, Dig for Victory in the gardens, re-enactors, jive and jitterbug lessons and people are encouraged to wear their own 1940s costumes, with a prize for the best one.
Tickets cost £7, £5 for 16s and under on the day.

There is also a GI Jive swing dance from 6pm to 9pm in the Great Hall including professional dancers and a buffet and bar.
