RADIO enthusiasts used a historic windmill to broadcast messages across the country.
Cray Valley Radio Society (CVRS) communicated with fellow ‘radio hams’ from Meopham Windmill when it opened its doors to the public for the annual National Mills Weekend earlier this month.
Short-wave messages were sent between enthusiasts in windmills and watermills across the UK during the national event, which was organised by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. A spokesman for CVRS, which has 11 members and was established in 1946, said they “hoped to raise the profile of the windmill on Wrotham Road, which was built in 1801, and their hobby”.
