Millwall fans are calling on the police to take action against an officer who was seen hitting a teenager in the face at an away match to Huddersfield Town FC.

The assault was shown on Sky Sports News on May 15 after the semi final playoff match.

Footage has since appeared on YouTube and Facebook.

Millwall Supporters Club member Dave Hart, said: “I think he should be reprimanded over it but I don’t see it going anywhere.

“The police let us all out at the same time which I thought was a big mistake.”

The footage shows an officer push the boy twice and then hit him in the face. A second officer then hits the boy’s legs with a baton as the teenager is being pulled away by other supporters.

After seeing the footage, season ticket holder Steph Hillman, said: “A policeman’s job is to arrest if they are not happy with a situation not assault.

“I think the officer should be struck off and arrested because the boy he hit was a minor.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A small number in the crowd behaved in a way which was unacceptable to both the police and other fans and three arrests were made.

“Any allegations against officers are always robustly investigated and this particular incident has been referred to the police professional standards team to fully investigate.”

Millwall FC declined to comment on the incident.
