TWO burglars who broke into an elderly man’s house in Bexleyheath were caught by police as they walked along a nearby road.
The man had called police after seeing the two men running through his hallway and out the front door.
When they saw police Tariq O’Connor and Harjit Seehra ducked behind a van.
But officers who stopped and searched them found the pensioner’s stolen bus pass and his stolen camera by the van.
O’Connor, aged 19, unemployed of Cambrian Avenue, Bexleyheath, pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court to burglary and will serve 16 months in a young offenders institution.
Seehra, aged 21, a labourer of Maiden Lane, Crayford, was jailed for 12 months for burglary and 12 months for breaching three suspended sentences.
