A BURGLAR who was caught by his victim has been given a 32 month jail sentence.
The victim and his wife were returning to their home in Clock House Road, Beckenham, when Keiran Keoghan barged past them at the communal door of their block of flats.
As they entered the communal hallway the householder's wife told her husband that their front door had been damaged.
He chased Keoghan down the road and managed to catch up with him in Queens Road where Keoghan started punching him and threatening to stab him.
The victim, 30, wrestled Keogan to the ground and restrained him until police arrived on the scene, despite being bitten on the finger by the suspect.
Keoghan was taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, where he was treated for facial injuries.
Doctors at Lewisham Hospital treated the victim for facial injuries and the bite to his right index finger.
Police found jewellery, a laptop computer, an iPod and a digital camera with a total value of around £2,600 in the rucksack Keoghan was carrying.
The jobless 25-year-old pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and burglary at Croydon Crown Court on May 10.
Keoghan, of Tottenham High Road, Tottenham, was sentenced to 32 months imprisonment for the ABH offence and 15 months for the burglary to be served concurrently.
The court heard he had committed similar offences in 2004 and 2006.
