A COMPANY specialising in work-based learning for the building services engineering sector is offering £1,000 to employers who take on electrotechnical advanced apprentices.
JTL is putting up £1m to support employers of the first 1,000 new apprentices aged between 16 and 18 recruited under the proposal.
The company already offers to meet some college and exams costs for apprentices.
JTL chief executive Denis Hird said: “ It is recognised the industry is still going through a tough time and this is making it difficult for some employers to commit to taking on an apprentice.”
Company chairman Les Bayliss added it was vital the industry continued to train through the recession.
