THE oldest continuous Scouting group in Erith and Crayford has been celebrating its centenary.
As well as a 100th birthday camp at the Gilwell (corr)Scout campsite on the edge of Epping Forest, complete with birthday cake, the 2nd Erith Group have been parading through their home streets of Northumberland Heath.
The group was founded in 1910 by choirboys from St Paul’s Church in Mill Road, Northumberland Heath, and the parade made its way to the church where its new flags were blessed by the Venerable Dr Paul Wright, Archdeacon of Bromley and Bexley.
A new plaque was also unveiled at the church by Dr Wright, to mark the group’s founding and its 100th birthday.
