A NEW scheme to employ 16 to 24-year-olds is appealing for experienced workers to volunteer to help the young people prepare for their jobs.
First Steps To Employment (FTSE), a not-for-profit company based in Swanley, plans to help young unemployed people by hiring them to work on local construction projects.
The initiative needs experienced volunteers to mentor the young workers and give them tips on their chosen trade.
Founder Neville Gaunt said: “Initially, we aim to give our young employees the right work experience to develop skills in their chosen trade.
“We will then help and encourage them to develop general business skills that will also enhance their long term employment options.”
The recruitment and induction day for volunteers and young people will be held at The Woodlands on Hilda May Avenue, Swanley on May 27.
