BUILDING work has begun on a new apron at Biggin Hill Airport.
Development of the 5,000 sq m area is set to be completed by the end of next month.
In autumn construction work will start on a new 120 x 40m aircraft hangar to be built alongside the apron by early next year.
Also in the pipeline is a 75-bed airport hotel with building to begin next year in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The airport’s business development manager, Robert Walters, said: “We shall continue to encourage companies to locate at Biggin Hill to provide the essential services required by our customers in the global aviation business.
“In turn, this will bring vital jobs for local people.”
