A MUM of an autistic boy says he “keeps crying” after the family dog went missing.
Patricia Dyer from Orpington, says the family’s dog Marmite, disappeared while it was playing in the backgarden in Kevington Drive, Orpington.
Despite putting up more than 2,500 flyers, 600 posters and contacting various animal charities, the family have had no luck in finding their pet pooch.
Mrs Dyer says her 13-year-old James, who is autistic, is really attached to the one-year-old Yorkshire terrier.
She said: “We got Marmite for him because animals help to calm down autistic children.
“He loves the dog a bit too much and we have to tell him to leave Marmite alone as he always wants to pick him up.
“James keeps crying and the house is really weird without Marmite.”
Mrs Dyer was contacted by a man who said he overheard a conversation between two women in Amherst Drive, Orpington.
The man said one woman was telling the other she had found a Yorkshire terrier wandering around, but did not know what to do with it.
However, despite this conversation happening in the nearby road, Marmite has not been reunited with his family.
A few days later another family got in touch saying they had seen a dog playing with another dog which matched Marmite’s description.
Mrs Dyer added: “I really do feel there is somebody out there who knows what has happened to him.”
Marmite went missing on April 23 at around 4.30pm.
He has a tanned coloured face and belly and a grey/black body. He is microchipped.
