A YOUNG dog has been rescued by firefighters.
The black mongrel fell down a chalk pit in Cuckoo Wood, Downe, on Sunday (May 16).
Its female owner had to leave the two-year-old dog there overnight but called firefighters yesterday (May 17).
Biggin Hill fire crew attended the incident in High Elms Road following the call at 8.50am.
One fireman went down into the pit via a ladder to rescue the pet pooch.
The dog had fallen around 20ft but was not injured and it was reunited with its owner.
