TRIBUTES have been left to a 34-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a car.

Daniel Abbot was knocked down in Rushey Green, Catford, in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 15).

Police were called at around 2.55am and Mr Abbot, who is said to be from the Lewisham area, was taken to King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill.

He was pronounced dead at 4.45am.

It is believed two vehicles were being driven at speed in the area at the time of the collision.

Officers have traced a silver Ford Ka which they believe was involved.

It did not stop at the scene but was found shortly afterwards in nearby Holbeach Road.

Officers want to trace the other vehicle, thought to be a dark coloured BMW, possibly a BMW Compact.

Flowers and cards have been left at the scene paying tribute to Mr Abbot.

One from “Billy” read: “To Daddy, I love you. You are the best dad ever. I miss you. You're always in my heart. I love you very much.”

Another from “Madison” said: “To my daddy stuffing. Big hugs and kisses from your little muffin. (Will always miss her daddy).”

And “Alex” wrote: “Danny, missing you big time mate you were the life and soul that made a party. So party on dude in heaven.”

A man and a woman, both aged 21, were arrested in connection with the incident. They have been bailed to return to a south London police station in July.

Detective Sergeant Gordon Wallace, from the Met’s collision investigation unit in Catford, said: “I am appealing for the driver and any passengers who were travelling in this car in Rushey Green at the time of the incident to contact police.

“I believe these people could hold vital information which could help this investigation.

"At this stage we do not believe this car was involved in the collision but the occupants may have witnessed what happened.”
