Philippa Jameson, Business Manager for NatWest in Beckenham is completing a challenge ride across Iceland to raise money for the British Horse Society welfare Department. The British Horse Society is the largest Equine Charity in the UK and responds to up to 200,000 calls regarding horse welfare a year, covering cases of cruelty and neglect.
The ride is for 5 days, 7 hours a day in the saddle covering a total of 150km, riding native Icelandic horses and herding 100 more across vast plains of volcanic ash and across rivers, sleeping in farmhouses and huts. Philippa said "This is the longest I've ever been in the saddle - I'm riding 3 days per week as part of my training. I'm so excited to be taking part in the challenge and in such a beautiful landscape".
Philippa has to raise a minimum of £2000 to go directly to the charity. If anyone would like to contribute please make cheques payable to The British Horse Society and send them to Philippa at NatWest, 41 High Street, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 1DA
