A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy is celebrating after successfully campaigning for cash to improve a park.
Ryan Wells was fed up with the state of Northbrook Park in Lee so he met the Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock, to discuss the problems.
Sir Steve was impressed by the youngster and awarded the park with cash from Lewisham Council’s Mayor’s Fund, which provides £50,000 to each local assembly over two years for community projects.
The Grove Park assembly awarded £10,000 to the park, which will go towards improving play equipment for older children and tidying up overgrown areas.
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Grove Park can attend assembly meetings which discuss issues in the area.
Ryan has also applied for lottery funding to make further improvements to the park.
