A 22-YEAR-OLD has been given a community sentence for benefit fraud.
Lillian Mbabazi, of Nettlestead Close, Beckenham, pleaded guilty to fraud after illegally claiming more than £9,500 in housing and council tax benefits from September 2007 to October last year.
Bromley Magistrates Court also heard Mbabazi defrauded the Department for Work and Pensions of a further £3,715 in income support.
The court was told she had not declared student loans and grants while living in Bristol.
Mbabazi was given a 12 month community order to do 120 hours of unpaid work.
She must also pay £475 in court costs Bromley Council is in the process of recovering the money.
