COLLEGE and university staff held a one-day strike in a row over cuts.
Lecturers, researchers and academics from Greenwich Community College in Plumstead Road, Woolwich and Lewisham College in Lewisham Way held a strike after a University and College Union (UCU) ballot backed industrial action.
Staff from 11 colleges and universities across London are angry over planned Government funding cuts of around £1bn which they say will threaten jobs across the capital.
Special needs teacher and spokeswoman for the UCU, Lynne Chamberlain, said: “No UCU member crossed the picket line which shows the depth of feeling.
“We desperately don’t want any of the courses to close. It will be terrible for the community.
“There are already one million young people unemployed. We don’t want any more.”
