JOAN RUDDOCK has swept to a storming victory in Lewisham-Deptford with a majority of 12,499.
The Green party had targeted this seat but Darren Johnson came a disappointing fourth with only 2,772 votes.
Speaking after hearing the good news, Ms Ruddock said: “I am thrilled to be the third Labour MP to be elected here tonight.
“I have had a fantastic campaign team and it's been a joy to work with them. It's been so much fun.”
The Lib Dems' Tam Langley came second with 9,633 votes while Gemma Townsend of the Conservatives came third with 5,551.
Turnout was 62.1 per cent compared to 52.19 per cent in 2005.
