JIM DOWD has swept to victory in Lewisham West & Penge with a majority of 5,828.
The Labour MP saw his majority fall from five years ago but boundary changes mean the constituency now includes a section of Bromley borough.
Speaking after hearing the good news, he said: “I am extremely mindful to justify my position as the first Labour MP to represent any part of Bromley in the last 40 years.
“I will do all I can to justify the trust people have shown in me this evening.”
The Lib Dem's Alex Feakes came second with 12,673 votes while the Tory's Chris Phillips followed closely in third with 11,489.
Turnout was 63.5 per cent.
