EARLY indications show Nick Raynsford is on course to hold his seat with a huge majority this evening, according to his Tory opponent.
Spencer Drury, leader of Greenwich Conservatives, also voiced a common complaint tonight about the freezing conditions in the vast London Soccerdome.
He was joined by a prospective Tory councillor who was huddled up in a hoodie to keep the cold out.
Mr Drury, running for Mr Raynsford's Greenwich and Woolwich seat, said: "I'd be surpised if Nick Raynsford hasn't won at this stage. Most of the initial indications suggest he's been returned with a huge majority."
Bur Mr Raynsford played down the predictions, saying: "Anyone who makes a prediction on what we've got so far is either very, very wise or very, very stupid."
Labour leader Chris Roberts also refused to speculate.
He said: "This is one day where politicians should shut up and let the voters' word be heard."
