A RECORD turnout in Bromley is expected to be confirmed shortly as the votes are verified.
There have been reports of voters queuing around the block at the 185 polling stations across the borough, from when they opened at 7am yesterday (May 6) to their closure at 10pm.
No-one who wanted to vote in Bromley was turned away at the stations which were staffed by 575 people.
And there were enough ballot papers for every single one of the 230,019 people on the electoral roll.
The counts for the constituencies of Orpington, Bromley & Chislehurst will be taking place at the Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley.
Staff at the centre are also counting 27,844 postal votes which were sent in from across the borough.
This is 3,170 more than the number of postal votes cast in the General Election in 2005.
