A LIBRARY has moved into temporary premises while its historic permanent building is renovated.
Gravesend Library has relocated to the St George’s Centre in the town centre while its Carnegie building in Windmill Street is restored and renovated.
The £2.5m 14-month project will see the building get new computers, a courtyard reading garden, a dedicated community space and improved access.
District manager of Gravesham and Dartford libraries, Christoph Bull, said: “This is the most significant development for the library since it opened in 1905.”
On Saturday (May 5) the library held a celebration at the temporary building to mark the move, with youngsters from across Gravesham putting on a dance show.
