A 10-YEAR-OLD chess prodigy has been selected to represent England in a major European championship.
Eltham College pupil Conor Murphy, who is one year ahead in his studies, will take part in the European Youth Chess Championships.
The competition takes place in Georgia this July.
Conor was selected after his success with the England Junior Chess Team where he was undefeated over nine rounds in a recent international competition.
College head teacher Paul Henderson said: “Conor’s achievement is quite remarkable.
“If he continues to play at such a high standard in relation to his age we could well be witnessing the development of a future Grand Master.”
