Many years ago there were a few biker clubs in the Biggin Hill area. The two most famous (or infamous) were the Nightingale Cafe and the Saltbox Cafe.
These are long gone and only part of the Nightingale building still exists incorporated into Squires Timber yard.
However The Saltbox existed as a club for a lot longer even though it changed it's name to the Manor a good while back and eventually it was as the Manor that it was finally sold and demolished.
But going back many tens of years, when it was the Saltbox it was the regular haunt of many bikers.
And it's from one of these that I have received a request.
Robin (Bob) Gadd used to live in Downham in Bromley and rode with the Saltbox club (Saltbox MCC as it became) He now lives in New Zealand and has done for the better part of 40 years I'd guess.
He's trying to find any old Saltbox members of the 60s who might remember him and vice versa.
One in particular he'd like to contact is a guy called Ray Cracknell. If there are any Saltbox members out there or anyone who knows of the whereabouts of any then please drop me a line on the comments section of this post.
Cheers all and my normal ranting service will be resumed as soon as possible - and it's likely to be about bl**dy cats and their owners who let them cr*p over everybody else's property bar their own!
