HUNDREDS of children have stuck to the task and got into reading, thanks to a new scheme.
More than 700 youngsters in Lewisham have taken part in the Bookstart Book Crawl since it was launched in January.
Children are given stickers every time they borrow books from a library which they then stick onto a card.
Once they have visited a library six times they receive a certificate from the Bookstart Bear and are also given a book to keep.
The latest group of children to complete the scheme was given its prizes by the bear at Catford Library, Catford Road.
Lewisham Council, which set up the scheme, says 270 out of the 769 children who signed up have so far received their prize.
