BOYS at one of Bexley's secondary schools have raised more than £6,000 to help local and national charities.
St Columba's RC Boys School, Halcot Avenue, Bexleyheath, tries to raise at least £4,000 a year for charity, and this year was a bumper one.
Throughout the year the boys have held sponsored silences, cake sales, bucket collections and paid to see PE staff shave their heads, raising a total of £6,271, which headteacher Bart Cannon described as "a magnificent response".
The money has been divided between Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice, the Manna Centre in Southwark which helps the homeless, and the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development.
