PUPILS braved cold winds and dug deep at the opening of a school's new garden.
A strip of wasteland on the site of James Dixon Primary School, William Booth Road, Anerley, has been cleared and will now boast vegetables and flowers, planted by the Gardening Club.
The school's has invited the community to sponsor the garden and enjoy the produce from it.
School governor Marie Read said: "The children took great delight in seeing their designs put to work.
"I think they were amazed to realise they were no longer just in their imagination."
