A COUNCILLOR has been reported to the Standards Board for England because of accusations in a leaflet.
Liberal Democrat councillor Grace Goodlad is one of the editors of the leaflet which accused Conservative Chelsfield and Pratts Bottom councillor Adrian Marshall of not paying council tax on his Chelsfield home while still voting on next year's budget.
Bromley Council's director of resources Paul Dale has confirmed Cllr Marshall has paid his council tax.
Speaking after the full council meeting on March 20, Cllr Marshall, who reported Cllr Goodlad, said: "This is the sort of thing which turns people off politics. It is sad the Liberal Democrats should be descending to telling blatant lies in order to score a few cheap political points.
"I will be expecting a retraction and apology from the three editors of the leaflet."
Cllr Marshall is standing down at the May 4 elections as he no longer lives in the area.
The accountant, with four children, moved to Haywards Heath, East Sussex, last year because of his new job.
He was unable to find work in Bromley or central London and said the commute to East Sussex would have taken up to two hours.
Cllr Goodlad was unavailable for comment.
