PUBLIC sector workers were due to stage a one-day strike yesterday in protest at proposed changes to their pension scheme.
The strike was expected to hit refuse collections.
Shenstone Special School in Old Road, Crayford and libraries in Crayford, Erith and Thamesmead were also expected to shut for the day.
Residents whose rubbish was not collected yesterday will have to wait another week for the ordinary collection and two weeks for someone to pick up their recyclable rubbish.
They were being given advice leaflets on what to do if they have no room to store the extra rubbish.
