FARMERS' markets are to hit the streets in Bexley next month.
In response to demand from borough residents, Bexley Council's town centres management team has organised a trial of monthly farmers' markets.
They will offer fresh produce from Kent farms, including locally-reared meat, some of it organic; Kent-brewed beer and cider, fruit, vegetables, bread and pastries.
After the success of French, Italian and other foreign markets, many people wanted the opportunity to buy fresh locally-produced food.
Farmers' markets will be held in the Market Square in Bexleyheath Broadway.
The first three will be held on April 6, May 4 and June 8.
If they are a success the plan is to hold a regular farmers' market on the first Thursday of every month.
