NEW HOMES: Residents have celebrated the latest developments in a £110m regeneration programme on the Silwood Estate in Lewisham and Southwark. The first phase has been completed with more than 600 new homes built by London and Quadrant Housing Trust, Presentation, Tower Homes and Higgins.
FIRST-CLASS CADETS: Sixteen cadets from the 1921 Lewisham Air Training Corps were presented with their first-class cadget badges on March 20 by new squadron president Colonel Conrad Graham, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lewisham.
HEALTHY BUSINESS: Around 120 firms entered this year's Lewisham Business Awards, which were handed out last week at a ceremony at Blackheath Halls, Lee Road, Blackheath. Lewisham-based firm Building Health scooped the Company of the Year prize.
MP GIVES SUPPORT: MP Jim Dowd is backing a new drive to stamp out animal cruelty. The Lewisham West MP joined the International Fund for Animal Welfare at the Houses of Parliament, to launch its latest report Importing Cruelty.
SHOP BLAZE: Firefighters were called to a blaze which started in the basement at a shop in Brockley Road, Lewisham, at 8am on Monday. No-one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
