A SECONDARY school pupil got to meet Tony Blair after winning a regional writing competition.
Charlotte Clark, from Colfe's School, Horn Park Lane, Lee, was one of 17 winners who took part in the Parliamentary Press Gallery Writing Competition for 2006.
Since 2003, the Parliamentary Press Gallery has started the annual writing competition for students across the UK, designed to complement their citizenship lessons in schools.
Fifteen-year-old Charlotte of Corner Green, Blackheath, beat more than 40 other pupils in the London group.
She wrote an essay on what she would do if she was Prime Minister.
One of her priorities would be to change the focus in education and bring back life skills such as money management, food technology and keyboard skills.
The teenager met Mr Blair at No 10 Downing Street and was then presented with her press gallery certificate by the Deputy House of Commons Speaker Sir Alan Hazelhurst.
She said: "I'm really proud to have won the competition in London.
"It was scary to talk to Tony Blair but he was friendly and put me at ease."
