Positive Place in Deptford is a support sanctuary for anyone living with HIV in the Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley boroughs.
Positive Place has recently launched a stop smoking service to offer counselling and treatments to its visitors.
Dr David Dore, peer support skills development coordinator for Positive Place, said the service was set up following research from France revealing smokers with HIV were at an increased risk of heart attacks and circulatory disorder. After discovering this, the clinic felt it had to offer patients the resources to overcome smoking addictions in-house.
Dr Dore said: "The group is going well, with good numbers and regular people attending. It is the first smoking service for people with HIV in the area.
"Unlike other smoking courses, Positive Place offers alternative and complementary therapies to its patients, such as hypnotherapy and massage."
The stop smoking sessions are held on Mondays 5pm until 8pm. Visit the website thepostiveplace.org.uk
