WORK began last week on measures to improve safety on one of Bexley's major roads.

Funded by £250,000 from Transport for London, the measures, which include new roundabouts, speed-activated warning signs and pedestrian refuges, have been amended after comments from residents.

The stretch of road affected incorporates Woolwich Road and Erith Road, Belvedere and Fraser Road, Erith.

Transport cabinet member for Bexley Council Councillor Daniel Francis, who agreed to the changes, said: "We have listened carefully to everything the people affected by this project have had to say and we are delighted to make these amendments."

Changes mainly centre on proposed waiting restrictions in the affected roads.

The revised plan can be seen at Belvedere Library, Woolwich Road; Erith Library, Walnut Tree Road, and at the Bexley civic offices in Bexleyheath Broadway during office hours until April 8.
