GARDENING for wildlife is to become part of the Bexley in Bloom competition.
An awards scheme for gardeners who transform their gardens into wildlife havens has been running for the past five years.
However, it is now to become part of Bexley's annual gardening challenge.
Last year more than 1,000 gardeners in the borough requested an information pack on how to make their garden more attractive to creatures such as butterflies, frogs, hedgehogs and birds.
Three hundred of them went on to enter the Gardening for Wildlife competition.
This year Bexley is again offering a free pack.
It gives useful information from groups such as the Wildlife Trust and RSPB to schools, groups and individuals.
To enter the wildlife awards scheme, applicants need to complete a self assessment form and return it by May 31.
