THE new Crayford Town Archive has been launched on the internet by the Friends of Crayford Library.
The group has been looking at ways of showing its work to a wider audience.
With help from Bexley's local studies librarian Simon McKeon, who put the group in touch with the Lottery's Awards for All and the online archive service Commanet, it has been able to put the archive on the web.
Members have been busy recording the memories of residents, copying photographs of the town and establishing links with other town groups and residents.
Prime movers Dyanne and Dennis Jarrett were inspired by local historian Ted Thomas, who stressed the importance of recording people's memories before they were lost.
To see the archive log onto commanet.org and type in Crayford.
The Friends are in the library hall most Monday afternoons and can be contacted through the library on 01322 526050 or by email at craylibfriends@yahoo.co.uk
