PLANS have been unveiled to transform an area with a "once-in-a-generation" development.
The Giffin Street masterplan would see the area around the road, near Deptford High Street, transformed by a new-look school, more homes and extra business premises.
The plan, first seen by Lewisham's Mayor and cabinet committee last week, puts forward two proposals.
The first would see Tidemill Primary School, Frankham Street, Deptford, rebuilt on a new site in Giffin Street.
Alternatively, the school could be rebuilt on its current site, with a five-storey apartment and office block built on the Giffin Street site.
The consultant's report says the site has "tremendous potential".
It adds: "Its successful and imaginative redevelopment would present a once-in-a-generation opportunity."
Detailed plans, including the estimated cost and time-scale of the scheme, are due to be completed in the autumn.
