WHEN I was given a ticket in Bromley there was no option other than to pay the £40, even though no law was broken.
I bought a ticket, clearly displayed this and was given a penalty.
The following day I phoned the Parking Shop at Bromley Council and was told to send them the original ticket and parking penalty notice.
They assured me they would then cancel the penalty and we would hear no more. A month later I received a letter saying pay the £40 or else.
I intend to pay this amount, begrudgingly, and contest the fine until justice is done.
I see this as a money-making scheme which Bromley Council seems only too willing to use.
