DOMESTIC violence sufferers can now get help and advice by text straight to their mobile phone. People who text the new free confidential service will receive a text back giving them advice about where to get help.

This service is run jointly by Bromley Domestic Violence Forum and Victim Support Bromley. Bromley Council's domestic violence co-ordinator Dave Gaywood said: "This new service means someone who needs help can get it quickly and efficiently without even having to visit a service provider personally."

Users can expect a reply to their text by the next working day at the latest. The new textline number is 07963 479602.

People in immediate danger should call the police on 999.
