ALLOTMENT holders have been handed a boost in the fight to save their plots.
Last week News Shopper reported how 30 plotholders at St Norbert's allotments, Brockley, have received eviction notices from UGS Properties.
But now deputy mayor Councillor Gavin Moore has promised to write to the site owners in support of the allotment holders' plight.
Brockley ward councillor Darren Johnson has welcomed Cllr Moore's intervention.
He said: "I am pleased the council is going to back the allotment holders. We need to safeguard this important green site."
Allotment holders have occupied the site, in St Norbert Road, since the early 1930s.
