SPORTS facilities for a school and for the borough have been given a boost.
Darrick Wood Sports Centre based at Darrick Wood School, Lovibonds Avenue, Orpington, has installed £60,000 floodlights in a sports pitch used by school pupils and the community.
Bromley Mytime and Bromley Council contributed £40,000 and the Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports charity, contributed £20,000.
Former Chelsea and Celtic footballer Paul Elliot and Darrick Wood headteacher Barbara Rhymaun switched on the lights at a ceremony.
Centre manager Debbie Arnold said: "These floodlights will complement our extensive sports and pool programme and increase the provision for clubs such as Crystal Palace Football in the Community, Petts Wood FC and Bromley and Beckenham hockey club."
